Sheila Toppi Survivor's Story (continued)
Images of Sheila's Experience

Please note: The following images are very graphic and may be upsetting.

I wanted to explain a bit about the photos so you know what you are looking at. I have "censored" a few of the photos. LOL. The first one is my wound as it was left open for 2 weeks before finally being closed. If you look closely, you will see 2 yellowish things inside, those are Penrose drains (I believe that is the name for them).

The second photo shows the wound as it was packed 3 times a day for those 2 weeks.

The third photo shows how my thighs looked after the huge sheet of protective film that was put on after each change was ripped off of my skin each time, leaving me very bruised and scarred.

The next photo was taken when I was finally home after 3 weeks, with a drain put in the one spot that didn't want to close. The smaller, dark red scar you see on the left side of the photo is where the original laporoscopy was done that caused all this mess.

The last photo is of my "dog ear" that I was left with after having so much skin and tissue removed and then being closed up. I did end up having it removed several months later.
