My Grandmother was 91 when she died. Had pain in her hip which the doctors thought was bursitis. She was admitted to the hospital on a Sunday. The doctors thought it was an infection but did not know what kind. By Tuesday afternoon they knew what it was. She was infected from her left knee up through her intestines and up her chest on her right side. The doctors wanted to try and fight it, and proceeded to give her antibiotics. They gave her 24 hrs to live. The antibiotics bought her some time, but she was too old to try surgery. A week later she decided to go off of antibiotics. We had a good day with her that day. She was very relieved her pain would soon be over. We were all in shock and it was very hard to see her in so much pain. About 2 ½ weeks after she was given 24 hrs to live my Grandma passed away. We still do not know to this day how she contracted this disease. |
