My dad just passed away June 15, 2003. He was only 46 years old and very healthy and active. My dad went to his doctor on Thursday, June 11th, with aches and pains throughout his arms and legs. Daddy also had swelling in his right arm along with a bruise. The doctor told my dad that he had the flu virus and to go home, drink plenty of fluids, get rest, and call if symptoms got worse. My dad called back the next day and was told there were no appointments available. Saturday, June 14th, my dad went into the Urgent Care and was ambulanced to the closest ER. Dad lie in the ER in tremendous pain, low blood pressure and kidney failure. Throughout the time he was in the ER, these welts and sores kept appearing over his body and bursting, we had never seen anything like it. The hospital moved my dad up to the ICU Unit later in the evening and there he went onto life support hoping to give his body a rest and help the blood pressure rise. Doctors at the hospital admitted to never seeing anything like this and they sent my dad by helicopter to Stanford Hospital in California. My dad was under going surgery at 5:24 am Sunday, June 15th, when he passed away. We now know what the disease that took daddy's life was. We are looking to get more information about it and hope to inform more doctors and people of this horrific disease. If my dad would have been looked at and treated Thursday, when he initially went to see his doctor, then he would still be alive today. Hopefully, with the help of others, we can get this known about and help to save other people lives!!
