Edward Garcia
May 16, 1957 - February 7, 1998

Eddie Garcia died from necrotizing fasciitis on the evening of 7 Feb in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was surrounded by family and friends but physically did not know he has departed this life. He knew he had the disease and was going to have his right leg amputated below the knee, (in an attempt to arrest the disease), but he never regained consciousness after the operation. Diagnosis to death was approximately 36 hours. He is survived by his wife Debbie and four children: Isaac 10 yrs, Hannah 7 yrs, Caleb 5 yrs and Benjamin 3 yrs. He is also survived by his mother and six siblings. Eddie was forty at the time of his death.

Eddie was a gracious man, well loved and a true leader in his life. His departure leaves a huge void in the lives of those who knew and enjoyed him. The following was written by a parishioner at his church, where he was a lay leader:

Like Jesus, Eddie was loving, gentle and kind.
He was every girls' dream of their Valentine.
Warm & devoted and enduring was he,
Every mothers' hope for their son to be.

He was loved by many and hated by none,
A husband, a father, a friend and a son;
A brother,a comrade, an employee or boss,
All are so saddened by such a great loss.

But be of good cheer, he's in Heaven - you see,
Singing praises to Jesus and dancing with glee.
We will all meet him one day when it's time,
So let's treasure our memories - in the meantime.
