Charles A. Faust, Jr.

January 12, 1943 - April 6, 2004

My Father, Charles A. Faust, Jr., died on April 6, 2004 from streptococcal sepsis and necrotizing fasciitis. He spent his last week in the ICU, but we didn't know just what he was fighting until a few days before he died, when they amputated both of his feet above the ankle in an effort to stop the infection that was flooding his body and all of his organs. The antibiotics had cleared all of the infection from his blood by the day that he died. But it was too late. Flesh eating bacteria, always just seemed the kind of thing you would see on the tabloid covers. It's not the kind of thing that should really exists. It certainly should not be something that takes my father from his family. We love him and will miss him and pray that no one else ever has to go through what we did.
